Tissue culture propagation is a biotechnological method that allows for the growth of plant cells, tissues, or organs in a controlled environment on artificial media. This technique enables the rapid multiplication of genetically identical plants, known as clones, from a small amount of plant material, such as seeds, leaves, or stems. Tissue culture is particularly useful for propagating plants that are difficult to grow from seeds or cuttings, including many ornamental and endangered species. The process typically involves several stages: initiation, multiplication, rooting, and acclimatization. By utilizing specific plant growth regulators, such as auxins and cytokinins, researchers can influence growth patterns and optimize conditions for successful development. Tissue culture not only supports plant conservation and breeding programs but also facilitates the production of disease-free planting materials, ensuring higher yields and improved crop quality.
