Plant tissue culture is a combination of techniques used to grow plant cells, tissues and organs in a sterile condition on a known composition of nutrient culture medium. The technique is called micropropagation, where produce clones of plants.

Plant tissue culture has different techniques which give many advantages over traditional methods of propagation like quick mature plants, production of multiple plants in the absence of seeds or pollinators, regeneration of whole plant from a single cell.

Plant tissue culture is performed under aseptic condition under High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtered air provided by laminar floe cabinet.  Tissues are grown in sterile containers (petri dishes) with controlled temperature and normal light intensity.

Plant tissue culture samples were sterilized in chemical solutions like alcohol, sodium or calcium hypochlorite where the living plant materials from the environment are naturally contaminated by the microorganisms, on their surface.
