Plant Anatomy

Plant Anatomy

Plant anatomy is the study of the structures, functions, and physiological processes of plant cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems. Plant anatomy includes the study of the structure, development, function and evolution of the plant organs and organ systems. It is the study of the internal structures of plants and the relationships among these structures. It focuses on the physical parts of plants, such as their cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems. In general, plant anatomy is divided into three major areas: structure, development and evolution. Structure includes the parts of the plant, such as the stem, leaves, roots, and flowers. Development includes the processes by which these parts develop and change over time. Evolution includes the changes that have occurred in plants over time, such as the evolution of the flower or the development of leaves. Plant anatomy provides important information about the structure, function and evolutionary history of plants.
