Pharmacognosy

Pharmacognosy

The study of natural remedies, such as plants, minerals, and animals, as well as the chemical components that make them valuable for therapeutic reasons, is known as pharmacognosy. It is an interdisciplinary science that incorporates concepts from chemistry, pharmacology, and botany. Pharmacognosy is the study of the origin, make-up, biological action, and prospective therapeutic applications of natural remedies. The area also covers the preparation, quality assurance, and systematic assessment of herbal products' therapeutic efficacy. Pharmacognosy research focuses on the chemical makeup of herbal remedies, the physiological effects of medicinal plants, and the efficacy and safety of herbal products. Researchers in pharmacognosy are able to discover novel medications, offer scientific justification for age-old cures, and create safer and more efficient treatments.
