Title : Effect of polyamines and Abscisic acid on germination and enzyme activity of Sorghum (S.bicolor) lines
Abstract:
The study examined the impact of plant hormones polyamines and Abscisic acid (PAs and ABA) on germination and enzymatic activity of three Sorghum bicolor L. lines under saline conditions. Seeds were treated with different concentrations of NaCl solutions (EC0, EC4, EC6, EC8 and EC10) and Spermine (Spm), ABA, and Spm+ABA. The results showed that seedlings treated with Spm or ABA alone had better germination percentages, but their amylase activity was decreased. Catalase activity was greater in NaCl-treated seeds compared to other treatments. Plant hormones increased germination percentages but had no significant influence on amylase or catalase activity. On the other hand, there was no considerable effect on the interaction between ABA and Spm.
