Title : The critical role of silicon in alleviating drought stress and mineral nutrient deficiencies in different crop plants
Abstract:
Recently, researchers have been more focused on silicon (Si)topic andwide-ranging benefits of Si for stressed plants are exploited for agricultural gain. In this context, Sihas been widely reported to alleviatesthe response of drought stress and plant nutrient deficiencies. However, the mechanism (s) by which Si mitigates abiotic stresses has not yet been fully discovered. In GPMB 2018, our recent investigations on the role of Si supplement on different crops under different indivitual mineral deffciensies and drought stress will be discussed. The results will be emphasized on the role of Si on drought-induced metabolite and hormonal changes using combined metabolite and transcriptional approaches. By this way, participantswill be gained:
1) What is the the new mechanisms by which Si mitigates abiotic stresses in plants.
2) Whether and what is the genotipic difference in response to Si supply under drought condition and
3) Finally scientists will be encouraged to work more on Si topic as an importance nutrition alleviating stress responses.
