Title : Effect Of Drought Stress On Aquaporin Isoforms Expression Level

Abstract:

Rootstocks play a major role in grapevine tolerance against water stress as well as phylloxera. In the present study, greenhouse grown grapevines of cv. Horozkaras? (Vitis vinifera L.) grafted on different rootstocks (110R and 5BB) were subjected to two irrigation levels (well irrigated and non-irrigated) and subsequently they were screened for their aquaporin isoforms expression level and lipid peroxidation (MDA). In this context, the expression pattern of different PIPs group of aquaporin (PIP1-2, PIP1-3, PIP2-1, PIP2-2) and lipid peroxidation (MDA) were measured in leaves. The influence of rootstock/scion interaction on plant adaptation to stress is briefly discussed. The main conclusion of present study was that rootstock not only effected physiologically or biochemically but also regulated molecular levels.

Mehmet KOC is a PhD candidate at University of Gaziosmanpasa University, Tokat, Turkey. He is also working as a research assistant at Department of Horticulture, University of Kilis 7 Aralık, Kilis. He had him master degree on the harwood cutting on blackmullbery (Morus Nigra L.). Now, He is doing my PhD but still in the courses period. He is specialized in the areas of plants stress physiology, hormonal regulation under stress conditions, horticultural plants, stress induced changes concerned with tolerant mechanisms against water constraints.
