Biography:
Dr. Somnath Roy [Msc, Phd, FRES (london) FLS (London)], the Principal Scientist and In-Charge Entomology at the Tocklai Tea Research Institute, has over 20 years of experience in tea pest management. He has contributed to the upgrade of the existing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) package in the tea crop by using eco-friendly, economically viable, and easily adaptable non-chemical methods. Roy has completed twelve external research projects funded by CABI, FAO, DBT, DST, and NTRF Govt. of India. His research has been documented in over 120 research papers, scholarly articles in twelve books, and six research patents. He is a member of the IPM taskforce of Rain Forest Allience, PPC govt. of India, and the North East Mentor of the Bionest Cluster of the DBT Government of India.
