Biography:
Rafaela Camargo graduated in Biology in 2021 at University of Mogi das Cruzes (Brazil) and is currently a PhD student at the same institution. She specializes in systematics and phylogenomic of Sida (Malvaceae), integrating morphological data with next-generation sequencing, particularly target capture approaches, to resolve infrageneric relationships and support taxonomic revisions. She has experience with herbarium specimens, DNA extraction from challenging plant material, and phylogenetic inference using both concatenation and coalescent methods. Her doctoral research is supervised by Prof. Dr. Marilia Cristina Duarte and co-supervised in partnership with RBGE by Dr. Flávia F. Pezzini.
