Biography:
Javier Andrés Matulevich Peláez holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas and an M.Sc. in Biological Sciences from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Currently, he is in the fourth year of his Ph.D. program in Chemical Sciences at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where his research focuses on the rational search for phytosanitary agents from the genus Piper to control phytopathogens affecting passion fruit crops. His research experience centers on natural products chemistry specifically the extraction, isolation, and chemical characterization of secondary metabolites with potential biological activity as well as analytical chemistry for the development and standardization of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods.
