Biography:
Prof. Elena Rakosy-Tican is specilized in the field of plant biotechnology starting from 1985, she developed research on plant somatic hybridization and genetic transformation. In the last years the main subject of her research is potato improvement by biotechnological tools. She published many papers (145) and participated in numerous international conferences. Elena used to be an active member of Pannonian Plant Biotechnology Association, Romanian Plant Tissue, Cell and Organ Culture Association and other national and international organizations. As a teacher she developed the first MSc course in Plant genetic engineering (1998) in Romania (TEMPUS project). Elena was/is coordinating national and international projects and has developed successful cooperation with different universities and research institutions in Europe.
