Title : JOURNEY TO THE TUNISIAN OLIVE TREE AND ITS AROMAS
In this publication, we want to present some data and reflections on the olive tree and the measures to adopt to integrate it into sustainable rural development. Indeed, one of the main consequences of ancient deforestation in semi-arid regions is the degradation of soil erosion. Deprived of their plant cover, exposed to torrential rain…. and in the wind, fertile arable land regresses over time. For millennia, olive plantations occupying plains and plateaus have favored the fixation of Mediterranean soils and indirectly the populations. Historians, agronomists, economists and doctors recognize the importance of the use values ??of the olive tree and its products. Despite certain natural constraints and a concern for environmental preservation, Tunisia has adopted an olive growing program which takes into account a balance between agricultural development and respect for the environment.
